Hentai x Yuri: Yuri is NOT Hentai!
That's a hentai with a yuri theme.
It’s not uncommon to see, mostly in forums, Hentai and Yuri anime together. When people are duscussing, they always throw in both, like if they were the same thing. That’s far from being true, even if it exists Hentai with a yuri thematic. Some people call it H-yuri or Orange.
Hentai
Hentai is a pornographic genre. Usually, but not always, has a crap plot. The main focus here is to show explicit sex. Hentai approach alot of fetishes, from the normal ones to the most bizarre.
Some of them are:
- Futanari (Shemales)
- Lolicon e Shotacon (Pedophilia with girls and boys, respectively. Sim, in Japan they are ok with that, as long as the characters are fictitious. Go figure.)
- Guro (Mutilations, scat, violence and shit)
- Tentacles (Imagine a woman. Now, imagine a octopus, squid or that villain from Spiderman, or anything else with tentacles. You got the point.)
- Incest
Yuri
Yuri is a genre that portrays loving relationship between women. This relationship can be sexual or not. Yuri hardly ever contain sexual scenes. When they do happen, it just show the before and after, doesn’t show the act. Mnemosyne is a special case. It’s erotic anime I’ve ever seen. I said erotic, not pornographic! The scenes are more explicit than other yuri, but still, doesn’t shows what Hentai shows
If Hentai is not Yuri, then why the hell they are related?
That’s simple: Like I said, Hentai approaches alot of fetishes. Homosexuallity happens to be one of them, so there are Hentai that portray sex between women and that’s what make everyone say yuri is hentai, when in fact, is the hentai that is yuri. Didn’t get it?
Let’s take as an example, the last live-action porn you watched when your parents weren’t home. Yeah, that lesbian porn, don’t pretend you don’t know what I’m talking abou. You don’t call it a ‘lesbian movie’, do you? You call it porn, yes? Unless your parents had forgotten something and came back to get it and also got you watching the movie in the proccess. Then, yes. maybe in a pathetic effort of trying to alter the reality of the human perception, you shout: “W-what?! I-It’s not what you are thinking! It’s a l-lesbian movie, not porn!”. Good luck trying to make your parents buy that.
If you still didn’t get it: Those Hentai anime people like to call yuri, do have a yuri thing to it; but still, they are Hentai, not Yuri. They are Hentai with lesbian sex. Yuri is something, Hentai is something else. Let’s put it this way: H-Yuri or Orange are like Hentai’s subgenres, not Yuri’s.
- Hentai it’s a pornographic genre.
- Yuri it’s not pornographic, it’s at most, erotic.
- H-Yuri/Orange are Hentai’s subgenres or themes, not Yuri’s, thus pornographic.
